Teaching skills in virtual and blended learning environments
Universities are currently immersed in what is known as the process of European convergence to create the European Higher Education Area (EHEA). The aim is to establish a standardized, compatible and flexible European university system that enables graduates and undergraduates to move easily from one institution to another within Europe. As a result of evaluation mechanisms, the system will be transparent and of high quality, which will make it attractive and competitive internationally in a globalized world. In this paper, we focus on two distance learning modes that will become more important as a result of this change in universities: e-learning and b-learning. These basically involve the virtualization of learning processes through the use of computer equipment. We carried out a qualitative study using the case study method. The results indicate that teaching staff use information and communication technology (ICT) to improve student learning. Similarly, a high percentage (78%) of lecturers use some form of digital platform as a support for teaching. In conclusion, training policies should strengthen university teachers’ skills in the use of ICT equipment, tools and resources related to blended and virtual learning
Expanding Venezuelan's voices in Colombia: A case study with female leaders
This study foregrounds Venezuelan women’s migratory experiences and the social structural factors
which influenced the becoming lideresas in their settlement communities in Colombia, and how their
voices resound in integration processes. More than victims of their contexts, migrant women are key
agents of change and are relevant contributors to human development. In this sense, recognizing their
rights should be the priority in international migration policies, rather than reinforcing unequal
gendered power relations, which will put them even more at risk. It is key not to lose sight of women’s
agency when addressing gender in migration literature and in the development agenda. The lack of
theoretical frameworks representing the voices and leadership experiences of Venezuelan migrant
women, compounded by the various ways intersectionality changes the experience, contributes to its
underrepresentation in several spheres. To address this gap, I examined Venezuelan women’s journey
from their migratory experience to settling in Colombia and becoming voices for their communities in
the host country, from their narratives. Eight Venezuelan and three Colombian social leaders were
interviewed, and data were analysed through thematic analysis. Findings showed how women deal
with their complex histories and become social leaders, overcoming daily barriers, and struggling to
help their communities, and provided evidence of some achievements their voices have accomplished.
The lessons learned from the participation of female Venezuelans in social leadership roles in
Colombia, and key observations might generate fruitful insights for migration and gender studies.
importantes contribuintes do desenvolvimento humano.
Programming and Researching With Youth in Cultural Institutions – a Brief Reflection on a Cross-Institutional Youth Advisory Board
This brief report describes the operational processes and participatory methods involved in setting up, managing and mediating a cross-institutional youth advisory board. Youth advisory boards in museums give young people opportunities to co-program with and for their peers, as well as to have an active and visible role inside institutions. Framed by the research project Youth in Museums, the youth advisory board Listening Lab – Youth, Culture, Participation, was co-organized and developed with five cultural institutions in Lisbon, Portugal. These included the Museum of Art, Architecture and Technology (MAAT), BoCA – Biennal of Contemporary Art, Casa da Cerca – Contemporary Art Centre, LU.CA – Luís de Camões Theatre and the Municipal Galleries. Young people, aged 15 to 25, were invited to participate in group roundtables to discuss specific issues related to youth arts programs. In the sessions with the youth advisory board I combined a semi-structured approach with participatory methods that activated collective processes of meaning making.info:eu-repo/semantics/publishedVersio
Does eurosclerosis matter ? - institutional reform and labor market performance in Central and Eastern European countries in the 1990s
This paper examines the labor market dynamics of six CEE countries over the last 10 years, paying special attention to the nature of labor market institutions these countries have adopted and their impact on labor market performance. This paper finds that, compared to EU countries, CEE countries fall in the"middle"of the flexibility scale regarding their employment protection legislation. While the effect of labor market institutions is hard to uncover, it should not be disregarded and they are likely to play an important role in the coming years.Environmental Economics&Policies,Labor Markets,Banks&Banking Reform,Health Economics&Finance,Municipal Financial Management

Urban Forensic Entomology studies the relationships between insects and urban environment, where these animals cause damage to cultural or historical resources and buildings and, support judiciary cases.
